Purpose of the position:

The purpose of this position is for its holder to manage and supervise the food aid program of World Vision Kenya.

Assist the Branch teams in managing the food aid programs, and to develop program proposals that will lead to the transition of the food program rehabilitation and development phase.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
  • A bachelor’s degree in social sciences/community development or related fields. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of lotus, MS Excel, MS Word, fax and e-mail
  • Ability to effectively develop rapport and relate to donors, NGOs, counterparts, and government agencies
  • Must have the ability to travel and a flexible approach to living conditions.
  • Fluency in English and ability to write well and express ideas in a sensitive manner within the context of a humanitarian approach.
  • Posses’ excellent presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standards.
  • Have at least 7 years experience and at least 3 years experience as a manager in commodity programming, designing, planning, implementing, supervising and reporting on Food Aid Programming and logistics or related field including hands on experience in food distribution, warehouse management and managing food aid projects.
  • They must have both an extensive conceptual understanding of and demonstrated practical command for implementing program design, management and evaluation principals:
  • The holder of this position must be a results orientated leader who can manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands.
  • He /she must also have solid public relations skills and be a strong team player.
  • Posses fleet management skills and exposure to commodity financial management.
  • Must be team player and have good management/supervision skills. Should be a problem solver and have good analytical skills.
  • Other: Exposure to food aid programs in Africa.
