Job Summary:Overall Branch management as per the company set standard operating procedures ensuring business growth in the Branch and proper underwriting standards are adhered to.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Business growth through offering competitive quotations
  • Intermediary relationship with management by ensuring they are informed
  • Risk surveys and offering recommendations thereafter
  • Marketing activities by visiting clients
  • Offering advisory services to clients and more so on keen and unique policies
  • Reporting the progress on new business and renewals
  • Advising on various rates and policies to be applied.
  • Attending to direct clients.
Knowledge, skills and Abilities
  • Marketing skills
  • Insurance Business Technical Knowledge.
  • IRA, AKI and other statutory bodies compliance knowledge.
Credentials and experience
  • University degree in a business related field from a recognized University.
  • Marketing Experience/qualification desirable.
  • At least 7 years experience
Special Requirements
  • Willing to work long hours, the job involves a lot of travelling.
  • Able to meet and surpass targets

Job Profile
  • Play the role of Principle Officer of the Insurance company and ensure all operations of the business are compliant as per the Insurance Act and other statutory provisions that govern the business of insurance in Kenya in line with the awarded trading license.
  • Drive the insurance operations to achieve various business targets in line with the budget including revenue, profitability, membership and market share growth.
  • Oversee the treasury management to ensure sound return on the various investment portfolios in place.
  • Oversee Underwriting and Claims roles to ensure risk taking and management processes are effective.
  • Negotiate reinsurance and co-insurance agreements.
  • Design high performance agency and alternative distribution channels models to achieve set business targets.
  • In liaison with the Head of Marketing, Design suitable products, enhance existing products portfolio and where possible drive their harmonization across the AAR group.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop reinsurance programs that ensure optimal risk management and optimal capital deployment.
  • Supervise, coach, motivate and develop the insurance team.
Person Profile
  • Bachelor of Commerce (insurance) or a Business related degree from a recognized university.
  • ACII or equivalent professional qualification ¡s a must.
  • A postgraduate degree in business management will be an added advantage.
  • 10 years experience with at least 5 years in senior management.
  • Deep understanding of technical insurance principles with different aspects of the Principle Officer’s role, Kenya insurance regulatory framework, agency management, insurance products and market players.
  • Good working experience of MS Office is a must.
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen.

Regional Risk Manager Job opportunity in Kenya

We are a well established Risk management and loss prevention company seeking for an experienced and dedicated individual to join the Loss Prevention Team as the Regional Risk Manager.

This position will be reporting to the Head of Risk.

General Position Summary:

The Regional Risk Manager is responsible for the management of all Loss Prevention programs and personnel for their assigned region.

You will also provide support for the company's overall business plan, Loss Prevention and Risk Management programs at client locations.

Some of the responsibilities of a Regional Risk Manager will be:
  • Direct on-going formal risk assessments of each client facility, and drive appropriate actions to mitigate high exposure areas.
  • Direct all aspects of current loss prevention program including facility access controls, guard services, and loss prevention protocols.
  • Direct, manage, oversee, and implement the latest procedures and techniques in security in conjunction with local ordinances and prevailing laws. –
  • Coordinates investigate and resolve internal theft issues and cases utilizing: Interviewing skills, CCTV, Incident Reporting and retail business systems analysis
  • Provide risk assessment for new and existing store locations, including physical security recommendations and issues.
  • Ensure formal, written documentation of investigative findings by Loss Prevention team to support the course of action that the Company deems necessary for prosecutory or defensive litigation
  • Oversee the administration and accuracy of all required reports and documentation.
  • Conduct criminal and civil investigations and prepare reports.
  • Possess effective skills to transfer knowledge and expertise through training programs to field operation staff.
Requirements

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following Competencies:
  • Ability to work autonomously in remote locations.
  • Knowledge of Retail Loss Prevention / Store Operations.
  • Strong interviewing & investigation skill set.
  • Sound management, leadership & supervisory skills
  • Track record of dealing with sensitive loss prevention issues in an ethical manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of company leadership.
  • Understanding of criminal and civil law as it applies to the retail environment.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Successful track record in driving Shrink Reduction programs
  • Ability to develop and implement plans, policies or procedures in a clear and concise manner
Experience

To be successful in your application you must possess:
  • A minimum of three years experience with multi site loss prevention and / or internal auditing company
  • Previous experience in a Loss Prevention role and/or the Security Industry
  • Experience working in a busy environment & meeting targets
  • Experience in Shrinkage programs and investigations
  • Experience in maintaining & reviewing physical security systems
Ideal Qualifications
  • Degree in Security Management (or an equivalent security-related qualification), Business Management, criminology or Law
Additional qualification
  • A recognised Certificate or Diploma in Computer Science will be an added advantage
  • MBA will be an added advantage
  • Any professional Certification in Risk Management, Fraud Prevention, Health & Safety.
  • Previous work experience in Military, Kenya Police and related organisations

  • Ensure reserves are correctly set and regularly reviewed to reflect current position of the company’s liability
