1. Lecturer II

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties at this level will include: -
  • participating in teaching and evaluating relevant subjects in their discipline areas;
  • assessing students in clinical areas;
  • organizing extra-curricula activities in the college/training Center;
  • assisting senior lecturers in research and development of teaching materials;
  • planning, designing and developing relevant teaching materials;
  • identifying health problems prevalent in the country and conducting surveys; and
  • supervising students in clinical areas.
Requirements for Appointment

Direct appointment to Lecturer II will be made from candidates who are in possession of a Bachelors Degree in a non-clinical field e.g. physiology, Biochemistry, Parasitology, Microbiology, Chemistry etc.

or

At least a Higher Diploma in the relevant field and a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in the case of Lecturer II (Clinical Medicine and Health Records & Information Technology).

2. Senior Lecturer

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties at this level will involve: -
  • participating in teaching and evaluating relevant subjects in their discipline areas;
  • assessing students in clinical areas;
  • organizing extra-curricula activities in the college/training Center;
  • planning, developing and evaluating relevant and usable teaching materials;
  • identifying health problems; planning and conducting relevant research;
  • planning, developing and evaluating curricular in the specific area of specialization;
  • guiding and counseling students in matters of their academic and social welfare;
  • evaluating teaching and learning activities; and
  • directing and coordinating courses assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment

For Direct appointment to this grade a candidate must have a Professional Degree in any of
the following fields: - Dentistry, Pharmacy, Medicine, or any other relevant qualifications from
a recognized institution.

3. Science Laboratory Technologist III

Job Group M8

Duties and Responsibilities

Work at this level is of limited scope and complexity and is performed under the guidance of
senior officers. 

The Laboratory Technologist III is expected to be conversant with the basic principles of laboratory work and should assist senior officers in accomplishing specific assignments. 

Duties will include simple analytical work and media maintenance of cultures of insects, bacteria, fungi or other laboratory animals.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, candidates must:-

(i) be in possession of at least a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade “C” with at least C in the relevant science subjects or an approved equivalent qualification; and

(ii) have successfully completed a prescribed three (3) years institutional/departmental course and have been awarded the Ordinary Diploma in Applied Sciences by the Kenya National Examinations Council or be in possession of other recognized equivalent qualification(s).

Lecturer / Assistant Professor

Job Summary:

The successful candidates will be reporting to the Dean Humanities & Social Sciences. The candidate will be expected to teach, conduct research and engage in community service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach at undergraduate level in the areas of Policing or Forensics and in any other courses offered by the Criminal Justice Program.
  • Support and mentor students in their career endeavors.
  • Participate in curriculum development activities to ensure that the programs are up-to-date and marketable.
  • Participate in program assessment and reviews.
  • Engage in research in one’s area of expertise.
  • Engage in service to the University, the profession and to the community.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience

Lecturer: 
  • At least a Masters degree in Criminal Justice Studies or in a cognate discipline from a recognised University
  • At least two (2) years of teaching experience in a University or equivalent institution of higher learning
  • Peer reviewed (or refereed) publications (journal articles, book chapters etc) in one’s area of specialization will be an added advantage.
Assistant Professor: 
  • Must have a PhD in Criminal Justice Studies or in a cognate discipline from a recognised University.
  • At least three (3) years teaching experience at the rank of Lecturer or five (5) years of equivalent professional experience at the University or an equivalent institution.
  • Must have published at least four (4) papers in peer-referred journal articles and/or book chapters.
  • Evidence of supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, theses and/ or dissertations.
Competencies

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Principal Co-op Bank Management Centre the Lecturer in charge of Learning Resources and e-Learning programmes, will be responsible for the Supervision and the performance of the Resource Centre (library)

Conduct Bank wide trainings as shall be assigned by the Principal, Develop e-content learning materials and manage the day to day running of the e-Learning programmes in the Bank.

Main Duties:
  • Manage the operations of the Learning Resource Centre (Library)
  • Weekly checks of accuracy of the shelving of Resource Centre Books and the periodicals.
  • Preparation and issue of periodic Resource Centre Reports e.g. Usage and Regular Consumer Surveys
  • Create awareness to the staff of the available materials in the Resource Centre
  • Arranging or making recommendations (in liaison with the Principal) for the acquisition or replacement of New Resource Centre Books, Videos and other materials in conformity to the current and future anticipated user needs
  • Custodian of the Co-operative Bank’s Resource Centre Materials.
  • Ensuring regular checks of the Integrated Resource Centre Management System (AMLIB) and organizing for upgrades of this system where necessary
  • Facilitate in assigned Courses and other duties at the Co-op Bank Management Centre
  • Participate in Training Needs Analysis
  • Participate in Curriculum development especially e-learning
  • Interpreting existing training needs analysis reports and translating these into Curriculum/Content Development
  • Conducting Academic and best practice Research in order to stay up-to-date to effectively facilitate in the role
  • Assist in carrying our pre and post training assessment
  • Assist in carrying out and analysing aptitude test results
  • Strategic Planning for the roll-out and growth of e-Learning programmes in liaison with the Principal Co-op Bank Management Centre
  • Manage partnerships with Training Institutions and Providers for the elearning programmes.
  • Recommend the appropriate state-of-the-art and cost effective Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
  • Identifying specific ways of fitting eLearning into the Blended Learning Strategy
  • Implementation of the e-learning programmes in conjunction with the ICT department and in liaison with the Principal-CBMC
  • Long-term resources Planning for the eLearning programmes
Job specification:

The ideal candidate will be required to possess the following qualifications, attributes and skills:
  • A Bachelor of Education Degree in Business Studies or Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Science
  • Post graduate degree or diploma in business or management will be an added advantage
  • Experience in the Administration of Electronic Learning Programmes
  • Proficiency in all basic Ms Office applications
  • Some web design (preferably Macro-media Dream weaver) or HTML experience
  • Proven hands on experience in Curriculum Development or Content Development for large organizations
  • Working experience in managing Learning Resource Centres Library
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in a similar position. Those with Banking experience will have an added advantage
