Position: Quantity Surveyor

Company Profile

Our client is a private company categorized under heating contractors offering professional plumbing services

Job Role:Manages all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures

Duties 
  • Prepares tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client
  • Undertakes costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work
  • Assists in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
  • Performs risk and value management and cost control
  • Advises on procurement strategy
  • Identifies, analyses and develops responses to commercial risks
  • Prepares and analyses costing for tenders
  • Allocates work to subcontractors
  • Provides advice on contractual claims
  • Analyses outcomes and writes detailed progress reports
  • Values completed work and arranging payments
  • Maintains awareness of the different building contracts in current use
  • Understands the implications of health and safety regulations
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Civil Engineer
  • AUTOCAD
  • 2 years worth of work experience in the same field
  • Added advantage plumbing experience

Senior Quantity Surveyor-(National Housing Corporation )- Job in Kenya


National Housing Corporation (NHC) is a statutory body constituted under the Housing Act Cap 117 Laws of Kenya.

The Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified Kenyan citizens to fill the following position.

Senior Quantity Surveyor

Ref: NHC/SQS/10/2011

Reporting to the Chief Quantity Surveyor the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the following:
  • Preparation of Bills of Quantities and tender documents.
  • Conducting project feasibility studies and preparation of feasibility reports.
  • Assessment of tenders and preparation of tender reports.
  • Planning, analysis as well as preparation of final accounts.
  • Preparation of cost estimates for construction projects as well as cost administration of such projects.
  • Supervision of construction works and advising the Chief Quantity Surveyor on matters of construction contracts and participation in project site meetings.
Job Requirements.
  • Possess a Bachelors of Arts degree in Quantity Surveying or Building Economics from a recognized University
  • Have nine (9) years post graduate experience in Quantity Survey work in a busy environment.
  • Be registered by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors for at least six (6) years.
  • Be computer literate in the use of Quantity Surveying software, preferably Win- Qs.
  • Be a team player
This position is on Permanent and Pensionable terms and the successful candidates will be subject to performance contracting.

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a background in managing multiple sites and a high workload, who can visit sites and lay beacons, obtain maps from surveys of Kenya and manage their day to day duties in a variety of locations.

Ideally you will have varied post qualification experience with time spent working across Kenya.

Good relationship building/networking skills are required as well as being a driven and self starter who can gain credibility in short space of time. Good relevant contacts in Nairobi/Kenya would also considerably help your application.

Comfortable using technology to manage your duties (GIS, GPS, mapping systems) will be an advantage.

The Quantity Surveyor will report to the Head of Department, showing results on a daily basis.

We are looking for someone who is a results-based and motivated self-starter.

About You
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Good knowledge of Kenya

  • The ability to work under direction but to be able to use their own initiative when required.
  • Knowledge of the construction sector.
