Jhpiego Program Technology Officer Job in Kenya

Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, is an international NGO supporting health programs to improve the health of women and their families.

Jhpiego-Kenya works in close collaboration with both the Ministry of Medical Services and the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation in the areas of HIV, Malaria, TB, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Reproductive Health and Family Planning.

We are currently recruiting a Program Technology Officer who is a team player, dedicated, highly motivated and willing to work in a high pressure office requiring good multi-tasking and organizational skills.

The Program Technology Officer will provide leadership and technical assistance in the use of innovative ICT interventions in health systems development and strengthening, health care service delivery, training supporting and supervising of health care workers, behavior change communication and in health care worker performance improvement.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead in advocating for the use of ICT interventions in health systems programing
  • Serve as the focal point for all information and communication technologies in program activities.
  • Lead program teams in the planning, design, implementation or evaluation of ICT program activities
  • Collaborate with others to monitor and evaluate projects’ ICT activities
  • Contribute to program annual work planning, budgeting and reporting
  • Support the dissemination of project successes among the project team and partners
  • Identify opportunities to partner with other organizations to facilitate the use of electronic communications and information technology in program activities
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders, including relevant department heads and staff, government officials, NGOs and ICT companies
Required Qualifications:
  • University degree in an ICT or public health related field
  • Three years’ experience providing technical assistance for healthcare related ICT interventions
  • Competent in the use of ICT to support health systems development, health care service delivery, training or behavior change communication
  • Experience in designing, developing, implementing and evaluating technology-assisted projects
  • Understanding of the constraints and benefits of different technologies
  • Ability to coordinate program activities with governmental, non-governmental and private sector partners
  • Excellent ICT skills and proactive in keeping up-to-date with technologies and technology standards

Job Purpose

Reporting to the programs coordinator/ Deputy Director, to provide, programmatic and technical support in the formulation, Implementation and evaluation of the Governance and leadership program in a professional , efficient and effective manner.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualization, design, and implementation of the Women, Leadership and governance program.
  • Developing a roadmap for effective execution of the project deliverables.
  • Fund raising, report writing and general co-ordination of the Women and Governance program.
  • Initiating and developing project proposal tailored to CREAWS Strategic objectives and goals.
  • Organizing and coordinating community Activities (forums, dialogue meeting at the community level in consultations with the community educators.
  • Coordination of research under the Women, Leadership and Governance program.
  • Ensuring timely and regular reporting on the project implementation to the immediate supervisor and the development partners.
  • Preparing and compiling monthly progress report on the projects being implemented and eventually preparing the final project reports.
  • Monitoring and evaluating plans and projects to ensure effective implementation of the projects.
  • Provide leadership in documentation of “success stories” and other anecdotal information to enhance the overall quality of performance of both internal and external reports.
Academic Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Personality Desired:- 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or any related field. Masters’ degree or equivalent would be an added advantage
  • Post graduate qualifications in program/project design, development and management
  • At least 5 years relevant work experience in the democracy, and governance sector
  • Good knowledge management skills and proven middle management skills
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills as well as excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Self-driven and able to deliver results with minimum supervision
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the country , work extended periods in the field and interact effectively with community members and willingness to learn new approaches
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment and with partners at all levels
  • Highly proficient in Ms Word, Excel, Access, Power-point and the use of Internet for research
Essential Competencies 
  • Demonstrated work experience in advocacy, leadership and governance programs.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills as well as excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment with partners at all levels.
  • Good knowledge management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power point and use of internet research
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in both English and Kiswahili.

NGO Programme Officer -job in Nairobi , Kenya

A regional NGO headquarted in Kenya is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the post ofProgramme Officerin its Nairobi office.

The current activities are in the sectors of Health and education with operations countrywide in Kenya.

Reporting to the Programme Manager, the officer will be responsible for project designs and monitoring, field assessments and development of proposals.

Minimum Requirements
  • Post-graduate degree in social sciences from a recognized institution in a field related to development and/or management.
  • 5 years hands on experience in project design, monitoring, proposal development and resource mobilization
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft office a must
