Zinduka Afrika Youth Resource Center Volunteer Job opportunity in Kenya

Zinduka Afrika ZAF is seeking for YRC Volunteer

Reporting to: The Assistant Project Officer

Responsibilities
  • Mobilize youths to visits the youth resources
  • Keeping records and doing monthly reports for the YRC
  • Cleaning and arranging the Center
  • Providing referrals for youths in need of additional services
  • Promotion of health seeking behaviors among the youths visiting the YRC through a monthly training on Behavior Change and Education ( BCE).
  • Ensure equipments at the center are safe and that they are used for the intended purpose
  • Develop monthly activities plan for the center
  • Identify partners
  • Monitor and Evaluate the progress of the Center
Minimum Qualifications
  • A form four leaver with a minimum grade of C-(minus)
  • Have knowledge on HIV/AIDs
  • Must have facilitation skills
  • Must be a Christian and born again
  • Have good communication skills and good public relations
  • Must be computer skills ( Able to use excel, Ms Word)
  • Aged between 23 and 35 years
  • Have good report writing skills
  • Have good mobilization skills
  • Creative and able to plan and implement activities concerning youths

The position is to be filled immediately and the Volunteer will be engaged for Six months.

Mercy Corps Volunteer Trainers – Economic Empowerment Job vacancy in Kenya


Volunteer Trainers – Economic Empowerment

(Thika-West, Thika-East, Ruiru & Gatanga Districts only)

Are you a youth living in Ruiru, Thika West, Thika East or Gatanga districts?

Are you passionate about young people and actively involved in youth activities where you live?

Do you want to gain skills, tools and experience that can allow you to go into consultancy (self employment), work with micro-finance and business development institutions or NGO’s involved in youth livelihoods development programs?

Then this opportunity is for you!

Mercy Corps through funding by USAID is currently implementing the Yes Youth Can (YYC) Program in Central Province.

The program is designed to empower Kenya’s youth population through building capacity of youth groups and organizations to engage with markets, governments and their immediate communities; and to pursue their legitimate needs and interests more effectively in a way that builds positive inter-ethnic networks.

The program has an economic empowerment component which includes comprehensive life skills, job-skills, and entrepreneurship training for young people. We are looking for volunteer young women and men to be empowered as community based trainers to support this. You will be helping youths in your district increase their income base as you develop your own competence in the mentioned areas. .

If your answer is yes to all the above questions and in addition you;

a. Are available – Trainer should be available to deliver trainings and have a role in their community or region as a trainer.

b. Have the right attitude – Trainers should enjoy working with youth groups and can play a supportive role as model or mentor.

c. Have the reach – Trainers should have access to and feel comfortable working in environments where youth groups are trained or reside within their home districts.

d. Are flexible – Youth are a diverse cohort. Trainers should therefore be able to adapt their practice to meet various needs among different youth in the community.

e. Are committed – Trainers should demonstrate a commitment to youths, youth empowerment, YYC goals and objectives.

Other minimum qualifications include:
  1. ‘O’ Level (KCSE) Certificate (Post-Secondary qualifications in business administration, economics and related specializations preferred though not necessary as a trainer as the successful candidates will be trained)
  2. At least 1 year related work experience in a Community Based or Local Non-Governmental Organization or running their own small business/enterprise.
  3. Membership to a YYC Village Bunge.
  4. Proven arithmetic, organization and planning skills.
