Key responsibilities

  • Database administration preferably in Oracle, Maintaining the database; Report generation.
  • Maintenance, monitoring and management of software and hardware etc. Applying patch, drive IT projects assigned such as Core Banking Solutions, Networking, SWIFT/RTGS,ATM etc.

Requirements:
Qualification and Experience
  • Applicants should be Kenyan citizens.

Overall Responsibility

To partner with management to provide continual risk assessment and in the development of comprehensive policies, procedures, compliance training, protocols, internal investigations, plans and implements risk management strategies and processes.

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy:
  • Evaluate the strategies, policies, standards, procedures and related practices for the management, and recommend appropriate changes.
  • Proactively participate in developing and managing organizational plans for continuity of business operations and information processing systems in the event of a disruption.
  • In liaison with departmental managers, initiate follow-up action to ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Identify areas of improving the company’s performance and efficiency through optimal utilization of resources and avoidance of waste.
  • Assess the adequacy of management decisions and their effectiveness to help maximize operational efficiency in a competitive market environment.
Security:

Systems:
  • Carry out operational audit designed to identify bottlenecks and shortcomings in our systems, and propose remedial measures.
  • Continuously review and monitor existing systems to improve their effectiveness and to ensure that agreed policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Continuously review the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization’s implementation of ongoing management information systems and infrastructure to ensure that they adequately support the organization’s business objectives.
  • Evaluate the methodology and processes by which the business application system development, acquisition, implementation, and maintenance are undertaken to ensure that they meet the organization’s overall strategy and objectives.
  • Evaluate business systems and processes to ensure that risks are managed in accordance with the organization’s business objectives.
  • Compiling and discussing reports detailing findings, implications and recommendations for system improvements.
  • Evaluate application of internal operational guidelines/manuals, identify deviations and recommend appropriate changes whenever necessary.
Financial Audit:
  • Evaluate the payment, receipting, debiting, claims processing and credit control procedures to ensure compliance with approved authority and budgetary levels.
  • Undertake ad hoc check on the usage of petty cash to ensure that it is used for authorized purpose and that the float limit is adhered to.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of the accounting and book-keeping systems to ensure that the control accounts at all times tally with the subsidiary records and that an audit trail is at all times available.

Description of Function

The purpose of risk management is to safeguard an organization, its customers, reputation, assets and the interests of stakeholders by identifying and managing all threats to the achievement of its business objectives. This often involves risk financing including insurance purchase.

Routine Responsibilities:
  • Insuring of all new assets.
  • Renewal of Insurance Policies and negotiation of Terms and Rates
  • Ensure that all insurance covers and policies are valid and excess deductibles, values, limits; etc clauses are as per agreement.
  • Quantification of Claims
  • To attend to assessors, investigators and loss adjusters etc. when applicable.
  • Follow up with Insurers Loss Adjusters and Insurers on outstanding claims
  • To handle all marine insurance issues up to and including subrogation and claims issues.
  • To handle all correspondence with insurance companies.
  • To handle vehicle insurance for all company motor vehicles.

Qualifications (Academic and Experience):

Our client, an insurance brokerage firm with over 15 years experience in the industry, seeks to fill the position of aFinance and Administration Manager to carry out day to day operations of the organization in finance and administration.

Job Purpose

Provide best practice financial management and coordination of for the company's finance functions (including branches) working with your team to deliver, monthly budgeting, cash flows & forecasting requirements.

Deliver the Company’s statutory financial reporting requirements, including analysis of the results and presentation to the Board of Directors.

Provide in-house HR, Administration and IT support to management and staff.

Key Deliverables

Finance
  • Financial strategy planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, including development of financial policies, systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

FSD Kenya Micro Insurance Specialist Job opportunity

The opportunity

Data from several studies suggests that among the many livelihood threats faced by low income households and enterprises are those arising from illness and death.

FSD, International Labour Organisation (ILO) and Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) are collaborating to support development of micro health and life insurance market ¡n Kenya.

We are looking for a micro-insurance specialist who will take the lead in exploring the market potential for health and life micro-insurance products to reduce vulnerability among low income households in Kenya.

The micro-insurance specialist will:
  • Lead in undertaking detailed research analysis work to establish an in-depth understanding of the potential market for micro health and life insurance products.
  • Assess the policy, legal and regulatory framework to identify any potential gaps;
  • Apply market insights to new product development;
  • Manage external stakeholder relationships; and,
  • Establish and maintain strong linkages with key institutional sources of expertise on micro-insurance.
Who we need

At a minimum you will have:
  • Relevant qualifications in social sciences (minimum bachelors degree in economics, banking, insurance and other related studies);
  • Experience working in risk management sector;
  • Strong quantitative research and financial analysis skills; and,

Our client, the African Guarantee Fund (“AGF”), a Pan African non-banking financial institution, was established in 2010 by the African Development Bank, the Danish Government (DANIDA) and the Spanish Government (AECID).

Its main objective is to contribute to economic development and poverty reduction in Africa; through improved access to finance and long-term credit for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (“SMEs”).

AGF targets financial institutions that wish to increase their lending to SMEs with a mix of guarantee products. AGF also provides support for capacity development of partner lending institutions to improve their SME lending capacity as well as business development providers to help SMEs improve their business management skills and bankability.

AGF will manage the guarantee facility and operate according to market principles.

Currently headquartered in Mauritius and operating out of Nairobi, its Kenyan branch, AGF has ambitious expansion plans to cover all Africa over the next 5 years.
