MSF Switzerland Medical Doctor (Paediatrician) Job vacancy in Mogadishu Somalia

MSF-CH is seeking candidates for the post of:

Medical Doctor - Paediatrician

To support its humanitarian operations in Somalia

MSF Switzerland (MSFCH) is a humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populations in need. At present, MSFCH operates in four project locations in Somalia: Belet Weyne, Dinsor, Afgoi and Mogadishu.

Location: Mogadishu project.

Start date: Immediately

Type of contract: 12 months fixed term contract

Scope of responsibilities: The role of the Medical Doctor is to ensure pediatric care, treatment and follow-up of patients in accordance with doctors’ prescriptions, MSF protocols and context for the MSF CH mission managed from Nairobi:
  • Coach and train the field Doctors on the management of complicated pediatric cases
  • Support the field team for the implementation of the innovative strategy: (negotiating with authorities at field level, guideline, analysis of report etc)
  • Ensure development of recommendations, implementation strategies, and training curricula’s, and or protocols depending on what is needed for practical action in the field.
  • Ensure analysis and review level of achievement of recommendations at the end of missions
Recruitment criteria:
  • Certified medical doctor with a recognised speciality in a paediatrics or GP with paediatric experience.
  • Degree on his professional skill in a recognised university
  • 4 years experience related to the field of expertise.
  • At least one experience with MSF
  • Good communication and training skills
  • Able to train / coach staff
  • Research or analytical capacity
  • Excellent computer skills – Excel, Word, E-mail and Internet
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Somali language is an added advantage.

  • Motivated with a demonstrated ability to adapt to new working methods.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
  • Negotiation and diplomatic skills with high-level authorities.
